Common recruitment method

During the Arcane Magic quest - specifically, in search of the Shield Card - go to the IRPO and ask about the Shield Card. Fuse will agree to give you the Shield Card if you help him pick a flower that grows on top of a mountain in Mosperiburg.

On the mountain, if you fight the optional boss Jotnar, you can recruit Suzaku. See the Side Quests section for more info on how to find and defeat Jotnar, as well as how to locate Suzaku.

Special recruitment methods

There is no special way to recruit Suzaku.

Character Analysis

By J Bugaboo: Suzaku is a hard character to find but if/when you do, it can already be considered in one of the five most powerful monster forms in the game. Unfortunately, this form goes away as soon as you morph the first time. The SuzakuJr form you come back to is inferior, but still not bad. It is possible to carry Suzaku's original form all the way to the end while raising your prime HP, but you need to know what you are doing.

(Note from Skankin' Garbage: To clarify what J Bugaboo is talking about, there are two different SuzakuJr forms: A superior form, and an inferior form. Suzaku joins your group in the superior form, and there is no way to change back to it if you morph into something else.)

Either way, filling out Suzaku's natural skill set is a good idea. FireBarrier is the key skill here, and a good one – place that one at the top of your skill list. GliderSpike works very well, as Suzaku is a fast character, and the skill is a combo starter. HeatWave and/or SacredSong must be absorbed (enemy Suzakus have them) and are both keepers, as they help stabilize Suzaku's form. As always, you should go for MagicHeal or LifeRain in your skill set. If you like monsters, Suzaku is well worth recruiting.
